The Hajduk Spirit
Under the severe ottoman rule of Serbia, that lasted for some 500 years, emerged a group of guerilla warriors known as Hajduks. These were men and in some cases women who had enough of the injustice perpetrated upon the populace by the ottoman rulers. They hid in the mountains and forests of the Balkans and formed bands of warrior troops that fought for the independence of their homeland.
The Hajduks spirit was formed out of necessity and hardship of survival living in the wild and warring against a professional army. They were characterized by their ingenuity, bravery, boldness, loyalty and self reliance. These traits represent the Hajduks. An indomitable spirit of a hardy people fighting and resisting to their last breath.
That is the Hajduk Spirit!
